Summer may be real estate’s busy season, but there are plenty of reasons to continue your home search into the fall and winter seasons.
Here in the Corpus Christi real estate market, there is still a good number of homes that are for sale for you to choose from later in the year.
The benefits of Buying a home in Corpus Christi at years end include the following:
1. Tax Savings
Closing by the end of the year means that you can deduct mortgage interest, a VA funding fee, property taxes, points on your loan and interest costs. In the beginning years of your mortgage, you are paying off a lot of interest, so these deductions can really add up.
2. Less Competition
Since there are traditionally fewer people buying and moving in the fall and winter, that means you have less competition with other buyers looking for homes. I’m still seeing a good amount of activity in the Corpus Christi real estate market but, there has been a slight slow down from the extreme craziness of the summer months. This means, as a buyer, that you should have a little more time to think about things prior to putting in an offer (i.e. a day or two vice a few hours). Still, I wouldn’t wait too long as things are moving fairly quickly in Corpus Christi. With less competition, that also means you will see fewer multiple offer situations making the process of putting in an offer a little less stressful.
3. Motivated Sellers
Some sellers might be in the same situation as you and want to take advantage of tax savings by the years end. In some cases, they might accept a lower bid. Keep in mind that the Corpus Christi real estate market is still a strong sellers market and I would advise you to seek guidance from your Corpus Christi real estate agent when putting in an offer on a home.
4. Builder Incentives
If you are building a brand new home, there is a good chance you could see some extra incentives that builders may include to close out the year with strong sales! You will probably see fewer incentives in Corpus Christi than other parts of the country since the housing market is so strong but, it never hurts to ask.
5. Available movers
If you have ever tried to move in the summer, I’m sure you remember the movers being completely booked for, ohhh, about six weeks or so. Since there are fewer moves taking place in the fall and winter, it is easier to schedule the movers and get a rental truck.
